Bill
Lennon gets slam dunk with ethics award
From
GAPS Newsletter, June 1999
It
was Conrad Taylor who convinced Bill Lennon he should join the Georgia
Association of Personnel Services back in 1988. So when he was named
the recipient of the first Conrad G. Taylor Ethics Award at the
Annual Awards Banquet this January, it was a "slam dunk"
for him.
"Knowing
Conrad as I have and how he has mentored so many people, you can't
get much better than that," said Bill, who is Founder and President
of Hall Management Group in Gainesville. On a trip to North Carolina
this month, he will be taking his plaque to be autographed by Conrad
himself. "He doesn't know it yet," he added.
Bill
became a catalyst for GAPS when he joined the Board of Directors
in 1991 and took on the Government Affairs and By-Laws committees.
Not only did he remain in that role for four years, he was instrumental
in bringing Janice Winters to GAPS as the official state lobbyist
in 1992. He was elected Secretary in 1995 and continued to oversee
the legislative activity.
After
serving seven years on the GAPS Board, always active with government
affairs and completing his term as the 1997 President, Bill has
enormous gratitude for the Association. "If it wasn't for the
Association, I wouldn't be in business," he said, adding "I've
networked like crazy with other people. It keeps me on top of my
game. And when you're surrounded by great people, it's really easy."
"Bill
Lennon has been a shining star in shaping the future of GAPS. He
is regarded by all who know him as a man of high character and ethics,"
said Sheree McGuire, Vice President, Membership.
With
more than 25 years experience in recruiting and placing executives,
technical managers and engineers, Bill was the Past President of
the Society for Human Resource Management for two city chapters;
member of Top Echelon network of more than 600 search and recruiting
firms; member of Recruiters On Line; and the Pinnacle Society. Bill
lives in Gainesville with his wife Pat.
